How many times have parents heard the words," I'm running away! I ain't never coming back! You'll see, you'll be sorry!" And of course how many of us told our parents the very same words.
So this painting is my reverance to those words. The boy with his knapsack on a stick, and his faithful friend on a journey that like these tracks seems never ending. Now I also had a short tale about this subject too. Between the ages of 7 and ten my nephew was feeling like this boy and thought he had to leave home. My brother got my nephew's little suitcase out and helped him pack his bag. Into the living room with his bag and head hung low he said bye to his mother. My brother asked him if he needed some money, almost in tears now, but refusing to cry he said yes. My name is Gene Ritchhart. I was born and raised in San Diego, Ca. My father was a career Navy man, thus my early years growing up were spent primarily in San Diego. After I graduated from El Cajon High School I joined the Army. While in the army I was the driver of an M113a1 Armored Personnel Carrier. While stationed in Mainz, Germany I found that I could make a little money selling my art work. After the army I used the GI Bill to go to college and attained an A.A.degree in Art. I currently live in the state of Washington where I am continuously inspired by this states beauty. Thanks for viewing my work.
