Artist's Description
This painting is depicting my concept of the Pacific airwar in WW2. The aircraft pictured are the F6F Grumman Hellcat and a Mitsubishi A6M. The Zero is painted in colors similar to those of the landbased aircraft in Saipan in 1944.The light grey or white undersides with a dark green surface and a mottled green on top of that. The F6F is in the try tone color of the carrier aircraft at that time. The dark naval blue on the upper surfaces with an intermediate blue-grey in the middle and white undersides. The original canvas has been sold to a private collector in Washington DC. You can still order prints of this piece thru Fine Art America.
About Gene Ritchhart
My name is Gene Ritchhart. I was born and raised in San Diego, Ca. My father was a career Navy man, thus my early years growing up were spent primarily in San Diego. After I graduated from El Cajon High School I joined the Army. While in the army I was the driver of an M113a1 Armored Personnel Carrier. While stationed in Mainz, Germany I found that I could make a little money selling my art work. After the army I used the GI Bill to go to college and attained an A.A.degree in Art. I currently live in the state of Washington where I am continuously inspired by this states beauty. Thanks for viewing my work.

I like this one too. Caught in action is cool. There is really no other way to see a fighter doing what they were built for.
